NetBackup HOWTO's

If you configured bpstart_notify and bpend_notify scripts and you can not have the working. Check “bpbkar” log directory.

One of the reasons is you made a mistake writing in the script, and its giving and error and the scripts returns an error code other than zero.

In that case you will see log entries similar to this:
