Howto Install a Media Server on Linux

Prerequisites: 1. Make sure your system has the tape drivers(SCSI or F/O) installed and can be managed by the system. 2. You need to install netbackup software with “root” user. 3. You need a NetBackup license to install media server.

1. Inventory a robot (then update) /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/vmupdate -rt robot_type -rn robot_number -list (robot_type is tld etc…)

If you encounter problems with tapes double check that the tape was not frozen before. on Master Server -> Media, right click on the tape and if selectable, click on “Unfreeze”, and try again.
