A thing I usually forget is that after a NBU client upgrade you have to set the service account again. Feels kinda daft when the exchange cluster backups fail with error 69 as the client service account cant read the information store.

It might be worth mentioning NetBackup requires Exchange Granular images to exist on Disk before being able to restore them. Images existing on Tapes need to be duplicated to Disk prior to doing the restore.

nice blog! Is it possible to test it under Vmware? I’ve done everything you mentioned but unfortunately it couldn’t be duplicated (only backuped, no more duplication jobs).

A late note:
As far as I remember, you need an “Application and Database” license for Active Directory GRT to work.

hi.. I was having issue with domain user account locked out before while testing on NBAC setup on Win2003 server.
How do you play out the certificate expiry with the user account? (use “bpnbat -whoami”)

If you’re talking about installing media server on to the master server itself, there’s no need for that, because media server is also installed while the installation of the master server…

i was curious… if the media is attached directly to the master server… do you still need to install the media server component? i basically only have one server to run netbackup on….

/usr/ucb/ps is not GNU. It’s BSD ps, hence UCB = “Univ of Calif at Berkley”

Addition:
I had problems finishing a backup which actually started successfully.
It was failing after some amount of time and/or data.
Try the same backup with every firewall/ips bypassed between the media server and sharepoint server.
Firewalls and ips’ can sometimes cause trouble after some time, although the backups could start without problems.

Open a command prompt on the client server. Type..
sc qc portmap
If the startup type is demand, type…
sc config portmap start= auto
This will change the startup type to auto
